Python's Lair was never just about the tracker. The tracker brought people through the door, but the community kept them there. Members joined through invites, chatted in IRC, helped each other, uploaded, moderated, laughed and built friendships.
Now the job is different: not to bring back the old tracker, but to preserve the people, stories and memories before they disappear.
